Adding key state indicators and export capabilities would be welcome enhancements. Furthermore, there is no way to export the unstyled text of a note to another app, other than via clipboard copy and paste. And there's no way to export a note's text with styles other than via Dropbox to the Mac version of the app (which costs quite a bit more). However, the special keys on the keyboard don't show state (whether they are active or not). And, of course the entire idea of syncing text notes to an audio track is killer. The style, cursor, and highlight keys on the keyboard and very useful. This looks like a great app for taking notes. Dropbox sync is nice, but not $$ nice if the cheaper app otherwise works for you. I didn't, and am now kinda wondering if I made a mistake going in for desktop+iPad. Thought that UI lesson was already learned on desktop :/ Who cares about individual characters in notes? It's a distracting nuisance. One big UI caveat, jumpy char-by-char playback = KILL IT WITH FIRE! Super-annoying, not able to be turned off. I wish there was an option to treat backedits just like above (borrowing neighbors' timestamps) so you could edit the inevitable iPad keyboard mess-ups in realtime without hosing your notes. It makes navigating around the timeline very odd.
Speaking of which, be careful editing while recording-you can easily get your notes in non-chronological order by inserting new text inside old text. It does do the thing from desktop where new text has a time set between what's before and after, but it'll all be at the same time. You can't edit notes while playing back, so no way to insert more accurately timestamped text. May just be inexact location and work itself out on longer lectures.īummer that transcribe mode didn't make it in.
